Dear fellow Eagles,
This week, the Eagles shall be running the Retake Weathertop instance to meet the needs of our coursera players in order to complete their second peer assignment; however, we also extend this invitation to ANY Eagle who would like to join in.
Assignment details (for coursera students)
There are two ways in which you can meet the requirements of this week’s assignment: follow the epic book quests or scale the heights of Weather top as a “walk through” tour. The Eagles have scheduled dates and times for the book instance and will be available to anyone who might opt for the tour instead. You have two options for completing this assignment:
· Option One: Write an essay that compares the scene in the novel, the film, and the game with respect to one of the following aspects: the actions or events in the scene; how characterization occurs; dialogue; setting / mise en scène / gamespace; point-of-view; and your experience of reading, viewing, and interacting with the scene. Include a screenshot of your character’s experience at Weathertop in LOTRO.
· Option Two: Create a video (similar to what is often called a walk-through) of your journey to the summit of Weathertop. (Check Week 4 of the Syllabus for more detailed instructions about how to approach Weathertop.) Using voiceover narration, describe how your character’s experience of getting to the summit and at the summit itself compares and contrasts to the novel and the film. Remember to focus your comparison primarily on one of the aspects of narrative listed above.
Prerequisites Option 1: Following the quest line
You must complete these before you can do the instance.Vol I, Book 2: The Red Maid quest chain, chapters 1 to 4. (Level 22)
Book 2, Foreward: Aiding the Order
